Les Tisserands, the Municipal Administration of Valgrisenche, the MAV - Museum of Traditional Craft in Valle d’Aosta – the Department for Productive Activities are proud to invite you to the official opening in July 26th, 2009 at 16.30 at the exhibition hall at “Le Vieux Quartier”.

The exhibition stems from the desire of the Cooperative Les Tisserands of Valgrisenche to celebrate its 40 years of work, paying tribute to all the people who, over the years, have kept alive the tradition of weaving the DRAP, warm, durable wool fabric that has always been important in the houses of Vagrezèn, innovating a savoir-faire of the past, but a symbol of Valgrisenche.
Through images, objects and testimonies of Vagrezèn - some of them had to leave their homeland due to the construction of the dam Beauregard – we have tried to give voice to a memory that tells of a knowledge passed from generation to generation involving whole families in an economic activity which basically was disappearing in the fifties.

Thanks to the passion and ability of Frassy Jean Sulpice, in 1969 the long journey of the Cooperative started, made up of men and women who have revived at the loom weaving the activity of our tisserands, renewing artefacts, developing new ideas with an eye attentive to modern needs, demonstrating that even today we can make craft through an ancient trade.
